The vast lush, green plains located in the skirts of the mountains, owe their beauty to the rain and melting snow waters of the surrounding mountains. The important plains of Lurestan Province are as follows: Baba Abbas Valley, Koohdasht This valley lies between two mountains, 80 km. south west of Khorram Abad towards Koohdasht. In the mountains of Sefid Kooh is a crypt which has pillars and a wall constructed around it. It is believed that this was used to be the place of worshippers of the Mehri sect or Mithraism. Two passages join this valley reputedly known as 'Dokhtar-e-Rah' and 'Dabareh'. Hoz-e-Moosa Valley, Khorram Abad This valley is to the east of the city of Khorram Abad. It is a dead-end valley. On the rocky surface of the valley a tank or pond has been dug, which fills up with water during the winter season. About 3 m. to the north of this point, is an inscription with five lines engraved on it, related to the period of Nasseredin Shah. To the south of this valley is a Jewish cemetery. Khorram Abad Valley, Khorram Abad The said valley is 15 km. in length, nestling amongst the limestone mountains at an elevation of 1,170 m. Koohdasht Plain, Koohdasht The plains of Koohdasht are to the west of Lurestan Province, experiencing semi-warm summers and moderate winters. The Kashgan River flows through this vicinity besides others, adding to the natural beauty of the area. Two tribes by the names of Kushki and Karavand inhabit this valley. In the western section the valley is mountainous, whereas, to the south it reaches Seimareh River. In this valley are a number of ancient hillocks, and a stony statue related to the Elamite period most probably, has been discovered here.
