Baba Khani and Takhteh Cheraq Hills, Khorram Abad Located 1 km. to the north of 'Sang-e-Moosa', in the district of Chagni (Khorram Abad), there are two hillocks at a distance of 200 m. from each other. The eastern hillock is called Baba Khani and the western hillock Takhteh Cheraq. On both these hills, numerous pieces of earthenware have been discovered. Furthermore, on Baba Khani hillock, evidence of a structure constructed of brick can be noted. There is a strong possibility that the first section of the hillock be related to the Islamic period, whereas the lower sections to the pre-Islamic ages. Choqa Sabz and Kaftarloo Hills, Koohdasht These two hillocks are situated in the village of Rumashkan (Kooh Dasht).Relics that have been discovered in the Choqa Sabz Hillocks co-relate with the vessels found in Shoosh I. The Kaftarloo hills are located at 5 km. north of the Choqa hill. In excavated areas, cooking pots, pots, both plain and designed have been discovered. Darakeh Hill, Koohdasht The above mentioned hill is one of the important hillocks from the pre-historic age, situated 24 km. from the village of Abol vafa (Koohdasht). This hillock was made of sun baked bricks and clay. From the central section of this hill, earthenware, brass and admiralty metal vessels have been found. The earthenware is red in color and similar to the tri-pod vessels that Prof. Gerishman had discovered in the Geyan. These vessels resemble a woven basket. Gariran Hill, Koohdasht This hillock is situated 6 km. north west of the city of Alishtar and rises to an elevation of 20 m. Relics from this hillock are relevant to various civilizations before the birth of Christ, till the Islamic period. Throughout this vicinity, designed and plain earthenware (similar to those found in the 'Geyan Hill' of Nahavand), have been discovered here. A few houses made of boulders have been found, along with tools and stone clubs. Kargooneh Hill, Khorram Abad This hillock is to the north of the village of Tashkan in the district of Chagni, Khorram Abad, on the skirts of the Sefid Kooh Mountains. From this hillock many tools, made of stone have been discovered such as, knife blades, pieces of colored earthenware, some of which are related to the period of Shoosh I. Khanjan Khani Hill, Borujerd Located in the village of Dah Peer, this hillock shows evidences of earthen ware from the Sassanian period and pots bearing bones. On this hill, is a tomb, reputedly known as Sarmagu (this tomb belongs to a much respected personality of the area). In this region, there are stone columns related to the Parthians. As for relics of the Islamic period, tomb stones with Kufic engravings have been also discovered. Sarab Navehkesh Hill, Khorram Abad Sarab Navehkesh hill is located in the center of Sarab Navehkesh Village, in the district of Chagni, Khorram Abad, placed to the south of a big spring is a large hillock. In its southern sector a part of the walls made of boulders, mortar, large and smaller stones can be observed. This construction could be from a section of a large castle belonging to the Sassanian era. On top of this hill there are numerous pieces of earthenware. Other Archaeological Hills, Lurestan Other hillocks or hills of Lurestan Province are: Tanurehban Tappeh or (Hillock), to the southwest of Tappeh Kargooneh, Tappeh Choqabel in the village of Choqabel (Rumashkan), Tappeh Piyareh in Koolvaeem (Tehran - Koohdasht), Tappeh Vashian (Pol-e-Dokhtar), ancient hillocks or Tappehs of Dallab (Koohdasht), Goroq (24 km. south east of Borujerd and Tappeh Hamam (25 km. from Delfan). |
